Rugby League – State of Origin Series – Game 1: 4.30 pm on Wednesday 9th June 2021

The 2021 State of Origin series will be the 41st time the annual best-of-three series between the Queensland and New South Wales Rugby League teams.

Referred to as Australian sport’s greatest rivalry, the State of Origin series is one of Australia's premier sporting events, attracting huge television audiences and usually selling out the stadiums in which the games are played. This year’s series reverts back to mid season after the 2020 series was Covid enforced delayed until after the season concluded.

Game 1 returns to the MCG in Melbourne on Wednesday 9th June, followed by Game 2 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Sunday 27th June, this will be a stand-alone week-end. The final Game 3 will be played in Sydney at Stadium Australia on 14th July.

I-Rovers Sports Bar has become the place where Aussies gather in Pattaya to watch the State of Origin contests as the 21 flat-screen televisions with surround sound provides for a great atmosphere. In the 2020 series, Queensland started as massive underdogs, but under the guidance of Wayne Bennett prevailed and are the current shield holders.

Brad Fittler is back in charge of the New South Wales Blues, however, former Cowboy’s mentor, Paul Green takes over from Bennett at the helm of the Queensland Maroons. Queensland leads the series ledger with 22 wins to the New South Wales’ 15 series victories (with 2 drawn series).
